But right now I honestly have to ask: what if after all these updates are done my game is still as unplayable as it is now, because it's running on OpenGL, with lower fps and any dynamic events (flashlights, HE grenade explosions, etc.) causing it to "frame skip" because of how low the fps count gets? I have a feeling it does have to do with this topic but First of all, I realize you are not a Valve employee, and I'm not "coming at you" in any way, I have the utmost respect for the patience it takes to be a moderator so please don't read me wrong. D3D was good and worked, I understand some reason must have lead to it being removed but our concerns still remain.Ĭheers, and again, sorry about the Did you use to play with D3D. I have not and would never join on this whole "rage wagon" about the CS updates, I welcome them and have a lot of respect for the patience you guys must have to put up with it all but I'm just really concerned about how this will affect me and so many others due to the poor performance of OpenGL on low-end machines and that I really need to insist on this now as I feel that if I don't, once the "updates because of Linux" train departs we won't have another chance to have this considered in the near future and people will be left with no option other than OpenGL (Software isn't and never was an option to almost anyone). Some were just unable to play with OpenGL and have over 20 fps, numerous people have the old issue with flashlights, for example, where playing in OpenGL would make them drop a lot of fps whenever they saw a flashlight or any other dynamic lights to the point where the game was unplayable.Ĭhanging to D3D would solve the issue just fine, now without it what will we all do given how OpenGL is simply not an option to play with, even though it was improved? Play with horrible frame rate or not play at all? I'm sure that is not the spirit of the update so is there/will there be anything to help with this issue, since I doubt you guys will simply go back and add D3D back? I realize this is obviously related to each individuals machine but again, whoever plays CS in D3D for years and now no longer has that option shouldn't just be forced to give up playing or have to invest on new hardware just to be able to keep playing a game they were able to play fine as it was up until this I'm not sure how could anyone be so interested on how to have their game perform badly but nevertheless, at the moment I would not be able to pull any detailed settings for you anyway, I'm Without trying to nag, but already doing so, was D3D really removed/not ever going to be added again? My question/request is if it was really removed from CS then what now? Because honestly, OpenGL might seem better and perfectly fine but fact is, a lot, and I mean real lot of people played in D3D because it simply offered better performance in terms of fps. After updating I confirmed I could now only select between Software and OpenGL. I kept reading that D3D was removed but every now and then I would read contradictory information about how it wasn't really removed.
